Castle Park exiles,
Paul Elgey and Paul Waring are set to return for what will be an eagerly
anticipated clash with rivals, The Railway Mafia. Elgey is currently at
uni in Sheffield but could well make the trip up for this Sunday clash. A
feared striker in his younger days- now a wily veteran with an eye for
goal. Likened nowadays to Barnet’s ex-England legend, Tony Cottee due to
his lethal finishing, Elgey has both pace and skill but does he have that
killer instinct that is needed for these hard fought derby battles. This is likely to be
Elgey’s final game for The Park and what a swansong it would be for the
man who is one of the founder members of the estate’s football club. Waring made a big
impact on Christmas Eve in the famous 8-6 Castle Park victory. His return
on the right flank will mean that youngster Dan Sutherland is likely to
drop to the bench. |

send me a blank email. As
Castle Park FC moves into it's seventh year in existence, there is a real
chance that the players will wear actual club shirts. The
idea has been mentioned before but this time it is believed it will capture
the imagination of the players. Although
details are sketchy, the likely colours are blue and white although the
design is a total mystery. Since
the team was formed back in 1994, great names such as Will Bonner(now in
Rochdale), The Cowley Youth(Whereabouts unknown), The Joblings, Jondy and of
course the Wallcott brothers(now in High Wycombe) have all represented the
estate with varying degrees of success. I
am currently considering covering the history of the club in more depth.
